What are mods?
Ever see sims that look nothing like the sims in the Official Trailer? Something like this:
Well, your sims can look like this too! Actually, you can download:
Custom Content (CC) to make your sims look good and have cool designs for your houses
and
Mods that let your sims murder, have Woohoo and get pregnant as teens, and many other things you wish you could do but can’t in the basegame!
Mods and CC come in forms of:
Script files
Package Files
They may come in forms of:
Rar
ZIP
7z
CAUTION: You must extract these and only move the package or script files to your game (not the PNGs or Folder itself!) If you place the files in this form the content will not show up in the game!
Part II: How to Download Mods and CC
Place downloaded files into:
1.Script files (Mods):
Electronic Arts>Sims 4>Mods>Mods
or
Electronic Ats > Sims 4 > Mods > "Create New File" (e.g. Name of Mod Downloaded)
DO NOT PLACE FOLDERS INSIDE ONLY FILES
2.Package files
Electronic Arts>Sims 4>Mods>Ex: hair, furniture clothes, makeup, skins, poses
(no zips within these folders)
Part III: How to download CC from a website (written explanation below)
Step 1: Go to a CC website and find something you like
Step 2: Click “download” (in a new tab)
Step 3: You will see ad.fly or something similar (DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING) Wait 5 seconds (you will see a countdown)
Step 4: Click “Skip add” once it appears
Step 6: The file will appear in your Downloads folder on your computer. Drag it into your Mods folder
Electronic Arts>Sims 4>Mods>Mods or CC folders (hair, furniture, etc)
Your mods folder should look something like this to keep your content organized in case you are searching for a specific one later (e.g. corrupt files)
CAUTION: If it is a ZIP, Rar, or 7z folder, you will need to open the folder and drag the packages/files (NOT THE WHOLE FOLDER)
TUTORIAL HERE (how to extract Rar, Zip, 7z files)
P.S. the specific mod will notify whether you can put the folder into the mods folder or if you have to extract it.
FINAL STEP: You need make sure you check “Enable Custom Content and Mods” and “Script Mods Allowed” in your game options or your mods will not show up in the game!
It will look like this when you open your game if your mods are working in the game:
